UK computer manufacturer Zoostorm has recently launched the Fizzbook - the first fully featured laptop designed around the exclusive needs of children aged 6-14. Unlike previous laptops for children, the Fizzbook includes a full Windows® operating system and an Intel Atom processor powerful enough to run day-to-day software applications, games and standard computer peripherals.
The ultra portable Fizzbook is based on the second generation Intel Classmate PC, which has been successfully launched in the Far East as part of the “World Ahead Program” education initiative and has recently appeared in Portugal where the Portuguese government have ordered 500,000 units for school children. Zoostorm have updated the design to make it more appropriate for the UK market by evolving the laptop into a fun leisure time device as well as a learning companion.
The Fizzbook has a rugged drop proof and splash proof design. It also utilises the new Intel Atom processor which delivers increased computing performance, yet lower, more efficient power consumption than any other mobile processor. A high resolution 8.9” screen with a 30GB hard drive, with a range of accessories and educational software including external drives, storage devices and child development applications linked to key stage standards.
